Reduced noise during machining provides a more comfortable working environment. It also improves the dust extraction due to the production of very small chips. Each cutter has 4 tips which can be rotated into the cutting position when worn. Therefore increasing the production life of the cutter block before knives require replacement.

Extra Long Cast Iron Tables
All SCM Jointers use aged cast iron tables that are machine polished to the highest tolerances. These castings are ribbed to ensure maximum strength and to avoid problems with the tables warping or breaking during use. The longer tables ensure board straightness. Our tables are over 102 inches to make sure that the workpiece will be straight every time.

Parallelogram Table Movement
All SCM Jointers incorporate a parallelogram movement of the infeed and outfeed tables. This system has the table height adjustment through a system of four cams (one per corner of support) that pivot on a radius equal to the head radius. This radius pivot ensures that the table chip breaker remains in the correct position from the head. Some manufacturers use a wedge type movement which allows the table and chip breaker to move away from the head as it is adjusted for more removal. This will allow splintering and poor-quality finish.

Xylent Cutterhead
This amazing SCM Group Jointer now comes with the most innovative solution for soundless planing in the world. The 16” cutterhead version comes with a spiral knife cutterblock with 3 series of knives. Totaling 68 plates of 15x15x2.5mm. These knives are 4 self-locking and self-centering screw knives. With each cutterhead you will also receive 1 dynamometric key for the correct and safe use of the locking mechanism (think of a mini torque wrench). Additionally, you will receive two inserts for the dynamometric key.

American Cutterhead Guard
Shown here, the standard guard offered on SCM Jointers is a spring type guard which always covers the unused portion of the knife. Other European style guards require the guard to be manually moved into place when the fence is readjusted. When processing thick wood, this does not cover the blade as completely.
