The SCM Nova S 520 is a high-performance, heavy-duty planer designed for precision and efficiency in professional woodworking shops. Powered by a robust 11 HP (8 kW) motor, this machine features an advanced Xylent spiral helical cutterhead, which reduces operational noise while delivering an exceptionally smooth finish. The Xylent cutterhead utilizes insert knives arranged in a spiral pattern, ensuring long-lasting sharpness and minimal maintenance. With a generous 20.44” (520mm) working width and a 35.37” (900mm) cast iron worktable, the Nova S 520 provides exceptional stability for processing large stock. A helicoidal steel infeed roller and rubber-coated steel outfeed roller, along with interchangeable feed rollers, guarantee consistent material feeding. Its electronically controlled table lift, four steel support screws, and dual linear side guides ensure maximum accuracy. With adjustable feed speeds ranging from 16 to 59 feet per minute and a maximum depth of cut of 8mm (0.31”), the Nova S 520 is built to handle high-demand applications with precision, durability, and efficiency.

STANDARD EQUIPMENT

• Monoblock Base and Cast iron table
  • The solid, welded base undergoes a treatment call normalization which stabilizes the metal and assures exact tolerances. All machine mechanisms are mounted, aligned, and referenced to the base. This design is vastly superior to frames that are bolted together and have no true reference point.
  • The cast iron tables are machine polished. These castings are ribbed to ensure maximum strength and to avoid problems with the tables warping or breaking during use.
